Thermally Treated Waste Silt as Filler in Geopolymer Cement

چکیده
This study aims to investigate the feasibility of including silt, a by-product limestone aggregate production, as filler in geopolymer cement. Two separate phases were planned: The first phase aimed determine optimum calcination conditions waste silt obtained from Società Azionaria Prodotti Asfaltico Bituminosi Affini (S.A.P.A.B.A. s.r.l.). A Design Experiment (DOE) was produced, and raw calcined accordingly. Geopolymer cement mixtures made with sodium or potassium alkali solutions tested for compressive strength leaching. Higher temperatures showed better strength, regardless liquid type. By considering leaching, X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, temperature time selected 750 °C 2 h. second focused on determining amount (%) that could be used mixture. results suggested addition about 55% (total solid weight) can improve geopolymers Na K activators. Based leaching test, cumulative concentrations released trace elements specimens into leachant lower than thresholds European standards.

Taftan Pozzolan-Based Geopolymer Cement
Abstract: In recent years, many research works have been done to investigate the possibility of utilizing a broad range of materials as raw materials in the production of geopolymer cements. The use of artificial pozzolans or aluminosilicate-type industrial waste materials such as granulated blast-furnace slag and fly ash has been reported in many research works. Natural pozzolans are also al...
متن کاملUtilization of Alumina Waste and Silica Waste for Geopolymer Production
This research studies the utilization of alumina waste and silica waste for geopolymer production. Alumina waste was obtained from aluminium thermal metallurgy industry, silica waste was obtained from silicone recycle industry in Thailand. This present study aimed at investigating the basic physical and chemical properties of waste materials and also the optimal proportion in geopolymer product...
متن کاملRheology of Geopolymer: Comparative Study between Portland Cement and Metakaolin Based Geopolymer
Metakaolin based geopolymers are presented in many studies as an alternative to normal Portland cement. Previous studies have focused on their chemical and mechanical properties, their microstructures and their potential uses, but very few on their rheological behaviour. Our work highlights the main differences that exist between geopolymer and Portland cement. These materials behave as Newtoni...
متن کاملUtilization of waste glass as sand replacement in cement mortar
In this study, alkali silica reaction (ASR) expansion and strength characteristics of mortar containing waste glasses are analyzed in terms of waste glass content and glass color. Three different colors of waste glasses (white, green and brown) are replaced with sand at ratios of 10%, 30% and 100% by weight. The mixtures used in this study did not show a considerable ASR expansion. All batches ...
متن کاملWaste Chicken Feather as Reinforcement in Cement-Bonded Composites
This study investigated the use of waste chicken feather (barbs and rachis) as reinforcement in cement-bonded composites. A series of composite boards consisting of various proportions of waste feather, cement, sand, and chemical admixtures were prepared. Mix workability decreased significantly as the proportion by weight of feathers or ground feathers increased from 5% to 20%. Boards containin...
